CyberSheath Helps Barge Design Solutions Achieve CMMC Level 2 Certification with Hybrid Solution

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CyberSheath, the largest CMMC managed service vendor, aided Barge Design Solutions, a leading engineering and architecture firm, in achieving CMMC Level 2 certification with a perfect 110 score. Compliance was achieved through an innovative hybrid approach that addressed both digital and legacy physical controlled unclassified information (CUI) requirements.

With the Department of Defense's final rule requiring CMMC compliance for contracts starting November 10, 2025, Barge needed a solution that could protect decades of historical project files while maintaining operational efficiency for resource-intensive design work. CyberSheath developed a customized approach that combined an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment in Microsoft’s Government Community Cloud with targeted physical protections for legacy CUI that couldn't be digitized.

The assessment was completed ahead of the standard four to five day schedule, a result of strong preparation and the effectiveness of the hybrid solution.

“Every organization has unique operational requirements, and Barge presented an important challenge,” said Emil Sayegh, CEO of CyberSheath. “We created a hybrid solution that protected decades of project history while preserving Barge’s design capabilities, proving that compliance and operational excellence can go hand in hand. The countdown to compliance has begun, and with the 48 CFR final rule taking effect on November 10, CMMC is now the condition for admission to the Defense Industrial Base. Companies like Barge will be winners, while those who delay will be ineligible for contracts.”

The assessment was conducted by Cybersec Investments, a Certified Third-Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO). Throughout the compliance process, Barge maintained full operational continuity with no disruption to ongoing design work.

“Achieving CMMC compliance gives us confidence to pursue future DOD contracts knowing our security foundation is solid,” said Chris Brown, SVP, Director - Federal at Barge. “CyberSheath’s partnership approach allowed us to stay focused on delivering quality design services while they expertly guided us through the complexities of compliance and positioned us for long-term success.”
