The latest episode, titled “Modern Intelligence, Modern Risk: Navigating AI for Regulatory Clarity,” tackles the urgent question of AI readiness and regulatory compliance in financial services.

“We're excited to expand Align Insights as a platform for meaningful dialogue about the technology challenges our industry faces,” said Vinod Paul, President of Align Managed Services. “As we grow this series, it continues to provide practical guidance to financial services firms, helping them navigate the complex technology landscape.”

Key Findings from Inaugural Panel

The panel revealed that most financial firms are not ready for AI regulatory scrutiny, with several critical blind spots:

  • Hidden AI Usage: Firms believe they're not using AI, while employees actively feed confidential data into tools like ChatGPT
  • Regulatory Gap: Even regulators are uncertain about appropriate AI oversight questions
  • Investor Pressure: Due diligence teams are ahead of regulators, already asking sophisticated AI policy questions

“Even though the regulators are not caught up, I will tell you, on the operational due diligence side of things, the investors are getting more sophisticated, and they do understand the risks as well as the nuances of AI,” noted Paul during the discussion.

Expert Panel Participants

The discussion featured:

  • Vinod Paul – President of Managed Services, Align
  • Chris Turek – Former CIO, Evercore
  • Eldon Sprickerhoff – Strategic Advisor and Growth Architect, Caldon Ventures
  • James Mignacca – Founder & CEO, Cavelo
  • Larry Meador – Channel Chief, Cavelo (Moderator)
