MetLife Investment Management Names Geert Henckens Global Head of Private Fixed Income

WHIPPANY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MetLife Investment Management (MIM), the institutional asset management business of MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET), today announced that it has named Geert Henckens global head of Private Fixed Income.

Henckens will expand his role to lead teams that originate and manage a broad array of private asset investments that aim to offer clients attractive relative value, portfolio diversification and potential downside protection. MIM has a longstanding track record of originating and managing private assets and originated $21.6 billion in private fixed income transactions in 2024. MIM’s total private fixed income assets under management stood at $154.8 billion as of June 30, 2025.1

“As a premier originator of private assets, MIM’s private fixed income platform is a key differentiator in capturing current and emerging trends, such as the rise of non-bank lending,” said Brian Funk, president of MIM. “Geert brings deep global financial markets experience and having a London-based leader of private fixed income and a strong leadership team positions us well to seize additional opportunities as demand grows across this market.”

Henckens succeeds Funk, who became president of MIM in June 2025. Henckens was appointed global head of Investment Grade Private Credit in 2023. He joined MIM’s EMEA Corporate Private Placement team in 2014 and led the group from 2020 to 2023. Prior to MIM, he was responsible for arranging and underwriting syndicated loans at KBC Bank in London.

“I’m honored to lead this talented group of dedicated investment professionals across our global offices,” said Henckens. “Our private fixed income platform is well positioned with deep capabilities in originating and managing private assets for our clients, from traditional high-grade private debt, including corporate and infrastructure debt, to private asset-based finance, residential credit and private equity and middle market direct lending.”
