For nearly 140 years, Essential, through its water utility, Aqua, has been a leader in water quality across its service territory through continuous investment in infrastructure, advanced treatment technologies and a dedicated team of professionals.

“Water is one of our most precious resources—essential to life, yet not limitless,” said Christopher Crockett, Ph.D., vice president and chief environmental, safety and sustainability officer at Essential. “At Essential, we take pride in our role as stewards of Earth’s natural resources. We’re dedicated to delivering high-quality drinking water to our customers and returning water to the environment cleaner than we found it. Protecting water quality requires care, innovation and collaboration, and we work every day to uphold that responsibility.”

In 2025 alone, Aqua intends to invest roughly $790 million in water and wastewater infrastructure, with a total of $3.2 billion planned through 2028. These critical projects will support aging water main replacements, compliance with evolving water quality regulations, and system upgrades to address emerging contaminants like PFAS and lead.

"Water is the foundation of all life, and our responsibility to protect and provide this precious resource is one we take seriously," said Aqua President Colleen Arnold. "Water Quality Month is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. I'm proud of our team's diligence in protecting public health and strengthening the resilience of our water systems for generations to come.”
