IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce it has launched a new practice dedicated to labor arbitration and has created new rules governing labor disputes, effective immediately.

Labor arbitration is a distinctive form of ADR primarily used to resolve disputes between employers and employees, often within unionized workplaces. The JAMS Labor Arbitration Rules (Labor Rules) will govern binding arbitrations of labor disputes, providing descriptions for use by parties in arbitration under collective bargaining agreements and post-dispute arbitration agreements.

“The launch of our Labor Arbitration practice group and Labor Rules marks a significant step in expanding the reach of our service offerings. Attorneys, union representatives and their clients will benefit from the depth of experience within the JAMS labor panel, which includes attorneys, retired judges and other ADR professionals with strong backgrounds in labor law,” said Elizabeth Carter, JAMS senior vice president, operations.

Consistent with the JAMS experience that parties have come to expect, the Labor Rules were designed to promote fairness, dignity and transparency in the resolution process. They provide a guide for every step of the arbitration process, from commencing an arbitration to issuing an award. The rules also detail parameters relevant to arbitrator selection, privacy and confidentiality, as well as administrative and expedited procedures.

With the Labor Rules, parties will have access to JAMS neutrals, case management and facilities. The Labor Arbitration practice is well positioned to serve labor unions, employers, HR professionals, legal professionals, government agencies and other parties.

The JAMS Labor Arbitration practice webpage and Labor Rules can be found here and here, respectively.
