Suffolk Hires Cotton McNutt to Help Lead Mission Critical Operation to Meet Growing Demand for Data Center Construction Nationally

Highest-ranking female operations executive at Suffolk to serve as senior leader of rapidly expanding, strategic Mission Critical and data center operation

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Suffolk, one of the most innovative and successful builders in the country, today announced it hired Ms. Cotton McNutt to help lead its Mission Critical operation nationally. As the highest-ranking female operations executive at Suffolk, McNutt will leverage her relationships and data center construction experience to help the firm continue expanding its market presence in the rapidly growing data center sector.

McNutt brings more than two decades of experience managing highly complex, large-scale construction projects throughout the country, with a particular focus on mission critical facilities such as data centers and digital infrastructure. She has led major operational teams for some of the world’s most prominent technology clients, delivering high-performance projects under accelerated schedules and within tightly regulated environments. Her deep expertise in construction, combined with her reputation for team development and operational excellence, makes her a natural fit for Suffolk’s high-growth Mission Critical group.

“Cotton’s operational discipline, strategic mindset, and deep understanding of client priorities make her an invaluable addition to our team,” said Charles McCarthy, President of Mission Critical at Suffolk. “She embodies the leadership qualities we value most — clarity, accountability, and a passion for building and operating high-performing teams. Her presence will elevate our operations and reinforce our position as a leader in this key sector.”

In her new role, McNutt will lead operations for key Mission Critical projects nationwide, working closely with Suffolk’s leadership to expand capabilities, enhance performance, and ensure consistent delivery across all phases of execution. She will also serve as a mentor and champion for emerging talent across Suffolk’s operational teams, helping to strengthen the next generation of construction leaders.

“I’m honored to join Suffolk and contribute to a team that is reshaping what is possible in the construction industry,” said Cotton McNutt. “The Mission Critical space is evolving rapidly, and Suffolk’s culture of innovation and collaboration is exactly what is needed to meet the moment. I’m proud to be part of Suffolk and its vision to redefine how American builds.”

McNutt’s hiring reflects Suffolk’s broader investment in its Mission Critical business, which has experienced significant growth amid rising demand for infrastructure to power the digital economy. In recent years, Suffolk has expanded the team’s geographic footprint, won major national programs, and advanced its use of technology, prefabrication, and data-driven decision making — all in service of meeting client goals in an industry where speed and precision are non-negotiable.
