Home Support Workers to Rally in Sydney on Tuesday

Share

Most home support workers represented by CUPE have been without a collective agreement for the past four years. These workers are responsible for keeping seniors in their home longer, lifting some of the strain on the overburdened long term care sector, and helping acute care patients return home with the certainty they will continue to receive proper treatment. Home support workers are the backbone of the health care system, and they are fighting for guaranteed hours, improved health and safety language, and fair wages.

WSIB fix falls short: union leader says workers deserve full restoration

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Ford government’s move to restore one of several longstanding cuts to Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) benefits is welcome, but far from enough to make up for years of cuts for injured workers, says a CUPE leader. Harry Goslin, president of CUPE 1750, the Ontario Compensation Employees Union (OCEU), is urging the government to reverse the rest of the nearly 30‑year‑old cuts that continue to disadvantage injured and ill workers.
