Exelon’s Board of Directors Appoints W. Paul Bowers as Chair

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Exelon (Nasdaq: EXC) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed W. Paul Bowers as its Independent Board Chair, effective April 29. Mr. Bowers has been an Independent Director on Exelon’s Board since 2021. The change comes at the retirement of outgoing Board Chair, John F. Young, who has served in the role since 2022.

Bowers’ distinguished career spans over four decades in the utilities industry, including most recently serving as Chair and CEO of Georgia Power. He is noted for his financial acumen and extensive regulatory and risk management experience.

“We are privileged and delighted to welcome Paul Bowers as our next Board Chair. This is a critical point both for our company and the industry, and Paul’s vision and guidance will continue to bolster Exelon as a leader of the energy transformation,” said Exelon President and CEO Calvin Butler. “As we head into Exelon’s 25th year of business, we are confident we have the leadership in place to continue making critical investments that allow us to deliver consistent, sustainable growth and value to the customers and communities we serve.”

Bowers also serves on the Board of Directors of Aflac as the Lead Non-Management Director. He also serves on the boards of EnviroSpark, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Brand Safway.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we want to sincerely thank John Young for his contributions and commitment,” said Bowers. “His dedication has ensured that Exelon is well-positioned to remain an industry leader. On a personal level, John’s counsel has been invaluable to me and the entire Exelon Board and leadership team. I congratulate him on his retirement.”
