Sammons Financial Group Marks Record Charitable Donations, Volunteerism in 2024

Nearly $4.7 million and more than 14,000 volunteer hours benefitted local communities

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Throughout 2024, Sammons® Financial Group, Inc. grew its local community support by donating nearly $4.7 million to charitable organizations in its corporate locations. Additionally, the company’s employees contributed more than 14,000 hours in volunteer service, an incredible 36% increase from the prior year.

As an employee-owned company, Sammons Financial Group supports a broad and diverse range of local charitable organizations meeting the local needs and addressing the concerns its employees are most passionate about. In 2024, the company supported a variety of organizations, including those focused on diversity and inclusion, homelessness, education, hunger, children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and specialized healthcare needs.

Sammons Financial Group has corporate locations in six cities – each contributing a part of the total $4.7 million to charities and not-for-profit organizations. More than $500,000 went to causes benefitting from the company’s matching gift program.

Other 2024 highlights include:

  • West Des Moines, Iowa: Sammons Financial Group donated more than $1.2 million to organizations in the Central Iowa community. This includes a number of charities from the Community Outreach Program, United Way, Principal Charity Classic, Special Olympics of Iowa, Meals from the Heartland, Children’s Cancer Connection, and Dorothy’s House. Employees volunteered more than 9,100 hours, a 70% increase over 2024.
     
  • Sioux Falls, South Dakota: Sioux Falls-area charities received more than $1.1 million, including donations made through the Community Impact Challenge. Funding went to LifeScape, United Way, Great Plains Zoo, Junior Achievement of South Dakota, Call to Freedom, and Boys & Girls Club. Employees also logged more than 3,100 volunteer hours.
     
  • Fargo, North Dakota: In Fargo, $350,000 went to key organizations, such as YWCA of Cass-Clay, Fraser LTD, Legacy Children’s Foundation, Great Plains Food Bank, and United Way of Cass-Clay. Employees tallied more than 545 volunteer service hours.
     
  • Chicago, Illinois: Chicago-based charities received $350,000 in 2024. Key partners included Deborah’s Place, Marillac St. Vincent Family Services, The Boulevard of Chicago, 100 Black Men of Chicago, St. Anthony Hospital, and various charities through the Big Hearts Program.
     
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota: In the Twin Cities, more than $160,000 and 800 volunteer hours benefitting organizations including Foster Love, MATTER, Wildflyer Coffee, Earth Foundation, and Mankato United Soccer Club.
     
  • Dayton, Ohio: In Dayton, employees supported Boys & Girls Club of Dayton, Daybreak Inc., Five Rivers Metroparks, and Miami Valley Pit Crew Rescue Inc.
