854 Addresses Gain Access to Comporium’s Multi-Gig Broadband Network

More than 850 Addresses Across York and Chester Counties Connected with $5.2 Million Investment

ROCK HILL, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More than 850 homes and businesses in York and Chester Counties have gained access to Comporium's fiber-based multi-Gigabit internet service. Over the past few months Comporium placed over 64 miles of fiber-optic network to reach addresses in and around McConnells, Catawba, Clover, York, and Edgemoor. These projects required almost $5.2 million of investment to extend the company’s fiber-optic network. They provide customers with access to internet speeds of up to 5 Gigabits per second (Gbps) and will improve the quality of life significantly in rural areas.

Comporium combined its own private investment and state-issued funds from the American Rescue Plan Act made possible by funding from the South Carolina Broadband Office. This joint funding approach ensures that the company reaches the maximum number of addresses possible with its state-of-the-art network. Comporium continues to work with state and federal agencies to find ways to extend or upgrade service to more rural customers.

This project extended multi-Gigabit internet to many addresses along the following areas:

  • McConnells
  • Hwy 321 from McConnells to Sandifer Rd.
  • Garvin Rd. in McConnells
  • Parts of Cleveland Rd. in Edgemoor
  • Parts of Kingsbury Rd. in Clover
  • Parts of Bate Harvey Rd. in Clover
  • The Timbers in York
  • Golden Pond Dr. in York
  • Parts of California St. in York

Working alongside the town of York and the Culture & Heritage Museums of York County, Comporium added public wi-fi hotspots to two local attractions as a part of these projects. Public wi-fi was added to City Park in downtown York. The company has been working with the Culture & Heritage Museums to add public wi-fi to its facility at Historic Brattonsville.

Residents and businesses in these areas of York and Chester Counties may place an order and schedule installation appointments through Comporium’s website at www.comporium.com.
