Atlassian Appoints Christian Smith, Splunk’s Chief Revenue Officer at Cisco, to Board of Directors

TEAM, Anywhere/SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Atlassian Corporation (NASDAQ: TEAM), a leading provider of team collaboration and productivity software, today announced it is appointing Christian Smith to its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2025. Christian is the Chief Revenue Officer at Splunk, a leader in cybersecurity and observability.

“Having Christian on the Board is a big win for Atlassian as we accelerate our enterprise focus. Alongside his sales expertise, he brings deep enterprise experience and broader operational muscle. Christian’s superpower is breaking down complex concepts into simple solutions that customers love. He’s customer first, a strong communicator, and passionate about culture. I know he’ll be a real asset to Atlassian,” said Mike Cannon-Brookes, Atlassian CEO and co-Founder.

Christian has more than 30 years of enterprise experience, driving global sales and digital transformation, and was directly involved in the creation and growth of several cloud-based businesses, as a founder, executive and advisor.

At Cisco, Christian is responsible for all of Splunk’s commercial business worldwide, including global sales, renewals, sales engineering, partnerships, and alliances. Notably, he led the company’s software transformation from perpetual license to recurring revenue, while achieving consistent growth and improving profitability. He also led the creation and implementation of the industry-leading Unified Engagement Model, a sales methodology, based around value selling and customer engagement.

Prior to joining Splunk, Christian served as Chief Revenue Officer for Nintex and led its global go-to-market, including sales, channel programs, field marketing, customer success, and support. He also held leadership roles at Oracle, ATG, and Daptiv. He currently serves on the Board of Feedzai and holds a B.A. from the University of Washington.

Atlassian also announced that Jay Parikh will retire from the Board, effective December 31, 2024. The ex-Meta VP, Head of Engineering and Infrastructure, was elected to Atlassian’s Board of Directors in July 2013.

“I also want to extend my gratitude to Jay for his 11 years of service on the Atlassian Board. He has contributed significantly to Atlassian’s growth journey and we wish him all the best,” said Mike Cannon-Brookes, Atlassian CEO and co-Founder.
