Bobby Lane Cup Awards $71,000 in Scholarships, Inspires New Generation of Anglers

LAKE WALES, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The 13th annual Bobby Lane Cup broke records for attendance and scholarship money awarded to participants. Hosted by Yamaha pro angler Bobby Lane on December 7 at Camp Mack, a Guy Harvey® Lodge, Marina & RV Resort, the tournament featured 402 participants and 55 scholarship applicants. With over 2,500 spectators cheering on the next generation of anglers, the tournament celebrated its mission to inspire youth fishing and support higher education. At the conclusion of the event, the tournament awarded $71,000 in scholarships, providing significant opportunities for participants to further their educational goals.

“This year’s participation and scholarship interest showed just how far we’ve come in building a supportive community around youth fishing,” Lane said. “Watching hundreds of kids on the water and knowing so many took advantage of the scholarship opportunities is what this event is all about.”

What started as a small-scale event over a decade ago has grown into one of the premier high school fishing tournaments in the region. Lane, supported by Yamaha and other key sponsors, expanded the Bobby Lane Cup’s reach and impact, combining competitive fishing with meaningful opportunities for young anglers.

Scholarship funding plays a central role in the event, giving participants the chance to compete for prizes both on and off the water. The tournament also provides a platform for young anglers to demonstrate their fishing skills and highlight their academic potential, furthering Lane’s mission to inspire and support the next generation.

“This is a team effort. We couldn’t achieve this level of success without the support of our family, volunteers and partners,” said Lane.
