Integrated Inspection and PV2 Innovations in Multi-Dose Card Pharmacy Automation Help Pharmacies Reduce Operational Costs

GENOA CITY, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As pharmacies struggle with erratic market conditions and significant regulatory changes, the impact of automated production is an opportunity to improve efficiency and profitability and significantly reduce operational costs.

Pharmacy automation solutions provider JFCRx ™ is launching their multi-dose adherence blister card packaging and inspection system, TruCard™, which can help pharmacies reduce their card filling operational costs by up to 70%, while providing a tool to support revenue growth.

TruCard helps pharmacies decrease their operational costs by reducing the time and labor needed to manually fill and inspect blister cards while eliminating timely rework caused by inefficiencies intrinsic to solutions currently in the market today.

Unlike existing systems that require manual inspection, the TruCard includes an onboard vision system to inspect and verify all medications dispensed by the packager, enabling pharmacists to conduct PV2 checks electronically, which saves time. The entire content of each blister cup is photographed and inspected using quantity, pill size, shape, and color to ensure that each blister card contains the right medication.

RFID canisters with hot swap technology allow replenishment and canister changes without stopping production, which equates to significantly less downtime. A closed pill path eliminates the potential for “hopping” of pills during dispensing. By increasing fill accuracy and decreasing pharmacist check time through guided inspection, pharmacies can control labor and production costs while maintaining and growing their customer base. Customers using the TruCard have observed results of 20% increased throughput of multi-dose card production, over 98.7% accuracy, and 70% less pharmacist checking time.

The leadership of JFCRx is comprised of the previous owners and management team of TCGRx, which was acquired by a 3rd party in 2017. JFCRx was created to fill a need for greater efficiency, analytics, and customer service in the pharmacy automation industry. “Our TruCard solution, when married with our highly skilled team and ancillary products, is really the next generation solution for multi-dose card filling,” said Duane Chudy, Chairman of JFCRx.

Unlike other players in the industry, JFCRx offers enterprise-level software for dashboarding, order management, and customized reporting through its cloud-based ecosystem, Enlite™. Enlite allows for the connection of disparate automation systems to provide actionable intelligence to drive efficiency.

JFCRx President Matt Noffsinger stated, “JFCRx is working to ensure that an individual product can be married to other individual products through a shared software platform. Our Enlite software allows an organization to run one machine or multiple machines in multiple locations with one API-enabled source of truth for data.”

JFCRx’s offerings include multi-dose blister card automation, adherence pouch packaging solutions, pouch verification systems, and vial filling for all pharmacy market segments.
