Grange Insurance Names Cheryl McRae Lebens Chief Financial Officer as Terri Brown Set to Retire after 35 Years in the Industry

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Grange Insurance Company announced that Cheryl McRae Lebens has been named the company’s Chief Financial Officer, effective January 1, 2025, following Terri Brown’s planned retirement at the end of the year. Brown’s amazing career in the P&C Insurance industry spans 35 years with eight of them at Grange Insurance.

“We have been incredibly fortunate to have had Terri’s financial stewardship during these unprecedented times,” said Grange Insurance President and CEO John Ammendola. “Terri has been instrumental in propelling our transformation journey forward and has built a best-in-class finance organization. An enduring testament to Terri’s leadership, global credit rating agency A.M. Best continues to recognize our sound financial management. In fact, this year A.M. Best reaffirmed our “A” (Excellent) rating and our stable outlook despite considerably challenging market conditions and again honored Grange with its “Standing the Test of Time” designation. We thank Terri for her wise and courageous leadership and wish her all the best as she starts this new chapter in her life.”

“I am excited to have Cheryl step into the role of Chief Financial Officer at the start of next year,” said Ammendola. “Cheryl has led our largest business, Personal Lines, guiding our results to outperform the industry during a challenged market environment. Cheryl was also instrumental in working with me to shape our corporate strategy and transformation journey. With her tremendous financial and business acumen and her leadership directing our organization through the market and industry challenges of recent years, Cheryl is the right person to ensure our enterprise’s continued financial strength and stability into the future.”

With Grange for 12 years, Lebens has served in several leadership roles within the organization. As president of Personal Lines for the past three years, she was responsible for all product development, strategy, underwriting management and operations for Grange and Integrity Insurance’s personal lines business. Prior to that role, she was part of the enterprise’s finance team, where she led financial planning and analysis (FP&A), capital management, corporate development, risk management, strategy, and data and analytics. With nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Lebens has also previously held various finance leadership positions at Nationwide Insurance and Safeco Insurance.

Lebens currently serves on the board of trustees for YWCA Columbus and St. Vincent Family Services, and on the board of directors for the Ohio Insurance Institute. She holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of Washington.
