University of Phoenix Launches New College of General Studies Web Page

New web page Highlights the Value of General Education Courses and Career-Relevant Skills for Students

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--University of Phoenix College of General Studies is pleased to announce the launch of a new General Education web page, designed to help current and prospective students understand the significant value that General Education courses add to their educational journey. These courses emphasize the development of durable, career-relevant skills that are essential for academic and professional success.

“We are excited to offer a resource that helps students appreciate the importance of General Education courses and the benefits they bring,” shares Dean of the College of General Studies, Briana Houlihan. “The new site is really an extension of our commitment to ensure our students gain the tools necessary to have a successful academic experience. We look forward to continuing work in support of students recognizing the value within every stage of their journey.”

Key features of the new page include an overview of the “Phoenix Success Series,” a group of general education courses that help prepare students for college and career with foundational learning in balancing time across high priorities, writing with purpose, critical thinking, and academic ethics.

The page also offers insights from experienced college leaders, including Associate Dean of General Studies, Dr. Jacquelyn Kelly, who shares how University of Phoenix general education courses are designed with the working adult learner in mind. “We all start from the beginning when we’re learning something new,” shares Dr. Kelly. “What’s important to keep in mind is that it is normal and expected to not be an expert on your first attempt. Talking to people around you can really help get things into perspective, and asking peers about their first experiences can be extremely helpful.”

Alongside practical strategies for learning, the site features two important resources for students: the Center for Mathematics Excellence and the Center for Writing Excellence. The Centers offer targeted academic support to students, as well as access to online study groups where students can support one another along their academic journey.

With a focus on holistic assistance, innovative learning approaches, and personalized guidance, the University continues to redefine the student experience, ensuring that students feel supported on their educational journey and have the tools they need for academic success.
