2024 International Quant Championship Global Finals To Kick Off in Singapore

13 Top-Performing Teams Representing 13 Countries will Compete as Finalists in Singapore

Over 37,300 Participants from 111 Countries Competed in Initial Rounds

OLD GREENWICH, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WorldQuant, a global quantitative asset management firm, will hold the Global Finals of the 2024 International Quant Championship (IQC) in Singapore on September 16-17, 2024. The Global Finals represents the culmination of the IQC’s three-stage competition. The 13 top-performing teams from 13 countries will compete in a live challenge and presentation to determine the overall IQC winners.

The 2024 IQC saw record-breaking participation, with over 37,300 contestants from 111 countries and 5,388 universities competing in the initial rounds. The IQC took place on WorldQuant's BRAIN platform, where teams from across the globe competed by applying their quantitative skills at the intersection of data science and financial markets to develop and backtest alphas1.

The 13 teams competing in the Global Finals represent countries including China, Singapore, India, U.S., U.K., Kenya, Vietnam, Malaysia, Korea, and Australia, demonstrating the global reach of the competition across both developed and emerging quantitative talent hubs. Finalists will compete in a live challenge where they will present newly developed alphas to a panel of WorldQuant judges. Participants will be judged based on their alpha creation and diversification approach, originality of ideas, logic of their selections and alpha performance.

“At WorldQuant, we recognize the future is global, and we strive to tap into the brightest minds from every corner of the world,” said Igor Tulchinsky, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of WorldQuant. “I’m inspired by the diversity, volume and caliber of participants in this year’s IQC, reaching more talent from more markets than ever before. We look forward to seeing what our finalists will present in Singapore as they test the limits of problem solving.”

Finalists will compete for cash prizes from a pool of $400,0002, the largest IQC prize pool to date. Top performers also have the potential to be considered for research consulting, internship or full-time employment opportunities at WorldQuant. More than 60 past BRAIN consultants have subsequently become full-time employees at WorldQuant since inception of the platform.

"The IQC continues to be a key platform for discovering and cultivating the best talent in quantitative finance globally,” said Nitish Maini, WorldQuant's Chief Strategy Officer. "Singapore, as a global financial hub and center for innovation, provides a fitting backdrop for the Global Finals, where finalists will showcase their most advanced quantitative skills.”

WorldQuant BRAIN is an interactive, web-based simulation platform fueled by data and technology where users can test alpha ideas in real time. The platform has over 100,000 users and more than 4,800 research consultants globally, who have the opportunity to utilize over 125,000 data fields to generate alphas and other algorithms and contribute to the larger WorldQuant effort.
