Empower AI appoints Elaine Duke to Board of Directors

Former DHS leader will also Chair the Empower AI External Advisory Board

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Empower AI is delighted to announce that the Honorable Elaine Duke, the former Deputy Secretary (as well as Acting Secretary), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has joined the Board of Directors. As a member of the Board, Ms. Duke will provide guidance and direction on matters such as strategy, governance and growth. In addition, Ms. Duke will also serve as the inaugural member and Chair of Empower AI’s External Advisory Board.

As part of a nearly 30-year career in the federal government, Ms. Duke led DHS as Deputy Secretary and later Acting Secretary. She also served in other senior DHS roles such as Under Secretary for Management and Chief Procurement Officer. During her tenure Ms. Duke was widely recognized for her expert knowledge and deep understanding of the DHS mission. She led the Department’s efforts to address emerging threats and oversaw response and recovery activities during the active 2017 hurricane season.
