O’Reilly to Host Free Online Event on the Evolving Landscape of AI, Deepfakes, and the Cognitive Revolution

Tech visionaries Tim O’Reilly and Reid Hoffman to examine the role of deepfakes within the broader context of AI advancements and the American economy

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--O’Reilly, the leading online learning platform for technology professionals, today announced its newest live event, Deepfakes, AI, and the American Economy, taking place on Friday, September 27, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm ET.

Hosted by O’Reilly founder and CEO Tim O’Reilly and featuring LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman as a special guest, the virtual event will explore the fascinating and controversial role of deepfakes within the broader context of AI advancements. Drawing on a recent groundbreaking experiment in which Hoffman’s digital twin was brought to life through deepfake technology, the event will give attendees a first-hand look at the process behind creating a digital twin and examine the potential of deepfakes for both good and bad. O’Reilly and Hoffman will discuss how, with proper regulation, deepfakes could significantly benefit the broader tech industry and US economy. The speakers will address the next level of AI possibilities, the risks and benefits of adopting deepfake technology, and the likely impact of AI on future learning and economic trends.

"As we approach the cognitive revolution, it’s critical to examine how emerging AI technologies like deepfakes fit into this monumental shift,” said Tim O'Reilly. "Embracing deepfakes as a catalyst for positive transformation, while also tackling the ethical and regulatory considerations necessary for their responsible use, is a vital conversation valuable for today’s industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and IT professionals.”

The live event is free to everyone, including those who are not current O’Reilly subscribers. Interested attendees can register here.

For individuals looking to expand their knowledge of AI beyond this event, O’Reilly’s online learning platform houses a host of supplemental materials tailored to meet the needs of a variety of roles and industries, including project management, security, data, government, finance, marketing, and more.
