The OneLegacy Donate Life Run/Walk and Family Festival Returns to Azusa Pacific University, Celebrating 22 Years of Inspiring Southern Californians to Donate Life

Special Fundraising Event to Take Place Saturday, April 27 in Azusa

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OneLegacy, the local organ procurement organization serving seven counties in Southern California, is hosting its 22nd Annual OneLegacy Donate Life Run/Walk and Family Festival with the goal of raising funds for the OneLegacy Foundation, while inspiring local communities to say “yes” to organ, eye and tissue donation. The event will take place Saturday, April 27 at Azusa Pacific University’s soccer fields, and feature a stellar entertainment lineup, led by returning host, Phillip Palmer, who is a living donor and ABC 7’s news anchor, and accompanied by returning cohost and Univision News Anchor, Gabriela Teissier.

“We look forward to welcoming donor families, grateful recipients, living donors and OneLegacy’s hospital and community partners to our 22nd Annual Run/Walk and Family Festival,” said Tom Mone, External Affairs Officer for OneLegacy. “The OneLegacy Donate Life Run/Walk is a special celebration of the gift of life and the power of organ, eye and tissue donation within our local communities.”

The OneLegacy Donate Life Run/Walk will include a special opening ceremony, hosted by Phillip Palmer and Gabriela Teissier. Special appearances include the return of singer, songwriter and double-lung recipient, Chloé Temtchine, who will be performing songs from her new album. Additional performances include Trejo’s Music singers, Cota The Barber and Amoraa, who will perform their new song, “Move Your Body.” D.J. Damage will also be in attendance to complete a talented lineup that will set the tone for the day’s events. In addition, local elected officials from the City of Azusa and other local cities and counties will also be present to share their support of organ, eye and tissue donation.

Once the Opening Ceremony is over, the Run/Walk will start, followed by a family festival that will offer health screenings, raffles, fun activities and carnival rides for children, food trucks and more.

A VERY SPECIAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR DONOR FAMILIES, RECIPIENTS AND DONATION ADVOCATES

Every year, hundreds of donor family members participate in OneLegacy’s Donate Life Run/Walk to honor the memory of their loved ones. 144 donor family teams will join nearly 200 teams that include hospitals, organ, eye and tissue recipients, health and fitness enthusiasts and corporate and community groups, who will gather in Azusa to celebrate the gift of life.

2024 will be the 9th year that team Forever 22 will participate in the OneLegacy Donate Life Run/Walk. More than 65 family members and friends will gather on April 27 to celebrate the life and legacy of Adrián Jiménez, a 22 year old college student who lost his life after battling meningitis. “Every year we gather at the Run/Walk to honor Adrian’s memory and we look forward to seeing friends and family and walk together for Adrian,” said Maria Jimenez, Adrian’s mom and OneLegacy Ambassador. “We also honor Adrian’s memory every year during Donate Life month by offering a scholarship to a high school senior from Lakewood, the city where Adrian grew up.”

The OneLegacy Donate Life Run/Walk is produced by OneLegacy, the largest organ procurement organization in the U.S., dedicated to saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation in seven Southern California counties.

All proceeds from the Donate Life Run/Walk will benefit the OneLegacy Foundation, with the goal to enhance OneLegacy’s public education efforts and inspire local communities to donate life.
