U. S. Steel Recognized as One of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) (“U. S. Steel”) today announced that it has been named one of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2024” by Newsweek and the market data research firm Plant-A Insights Group, based on their recent independent workplace study. The large-scale and rigorous review spotlights organizations that are providing excellent work opportunities for women, veterans, the LGBTQ+ community, and more while also cultivating a healthy work-life balance.

Findings were the result of input received from interviews with more than 223,000 workers nationwide, incorporated with data gathered from 1.5 million company reviews. U. S. Steel received the highest possible rating of 5 stars and was included in the list of top, large-size companies recognized by their employees for demonstrating an authentic and ongoing dedication to building and supporting a diverse workforce.

“U. S. Steel’s strong commitment to inclusivity and a Culture of Caring is foundational to our Best for All® strategy. Being publicly recognized by Newsweek as one of ‘America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2024’ is an honor that reflects how much the progress we’ve made on our journey matters to our employees, without whom we could not have made the list,” said U. S. Steel President and Chief Executive Officer David B. Burritt.

“Being named to Newsweek’s list of ‘America's Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2024’ is a recognition to both celebrate and build on as we continue to foster our Culture of Caring and deepen the ways in which our employees experience inclusiveness, trust, and respect, all of which we believe to be essential to a thriving workplace,” said Mona Dine, U. S. Steel General Manager, Human Resources and Chief Diversity Officer.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) is a cornerstone of U. S. Steel’s efforts to create workplaces in which everyone feels heard, empowered, and respected. Recently, the company earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Equality 100 Award, receiving a perfect score of 100 on their Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for a fourth consecutive year, as well as the highly respected Mansfield Certification for progressing DE&I in their legal department. The CEI is the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality, while the Mansfield Certification is awarded to a small group of companies who successfully improve the diversity profile of their corporate legal departments. U. S. Steel was also recognized as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion last year with a top score of 100 on the Disability Equality Index®.
