John Ramirez named to list of esteemed Arizona leaders

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--University of Phoenix is pleased to announce that John Ramirez, MBA, MS/AJS-GHS, USA CSM (ret) and dean of operations for the University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies, has been selected for inclusion in the AZ Big 100 editorial section for the January/February issue of Az Business magazine.

“John exemplifies the essence of a servant leader, and his well-deserved inclusion on the AZ Big 100 list is a testament to his outstanding contributions," shares Dr. Hinrich Eylers, P.E., vice provost of the College of Doctoral Studies. "His achievements and commitment to excellence truly embody the spirit of our university. We take immense pride in John's recognition on this prestigious list, celebrating not only his individual success but also the collective accomplishments of our university. This achievement reinforces our commitment to nurturing talent and developing leaders who leave a lasting impact on the state and beyond."

“I am deeply honored to be acknowledged alongside such accomplished professionals," shares Ramirez. “In my role as a leader at the University of Phoenix and as the Chairperson of the Board for the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, I am fortunate to help cultivate meaningful connections with business leaders, corporate partners, entrepreneurs, and students across our community. By championing service and fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect, my mission is to empower our students and businesses to thrive. Together, we can create lasting impacts that contribute to the prosperity of individuals and the community at large."

This section features the 50 people and 50 companies that will help shape Arizona’s business landscape in 2024. The 2023 edition of AZ Big 100 was one of the most read features of the year — both online and in print.

“There are so many outstanding business leaders and innovative companies accomplishing a number of strategies and initiatives to improve their companies as well as the local business community,” says Amy Lindsey, publisher at AZ Big Media. “We take great pride in showcasing these dynamic people and organizations and helping our readers learn more about them and their plans for 2024.”

Selections for AZ Big 100 are based on a nominations process, which includes submissions by some of Arizona’s most prominent business leaders and former AZ Big 100 recipients. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Ramirez served in the United States Army for 27 years and retired in 2004 as a Command Sergeant Major. Since November 2004, John has worked for the University of Phoenix and currently serves as the Dean of Operations for the College of Doctoral Studies. Ramirez was the recipient of the Association of Latino Professionals for America’s (ALPFA) National 2017 Veteran of the Year Award and in 2020, was inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Board for the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
