Demesha Hill Appointed President of Janus Henderson Foundation

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Demesha Hill, Head of Diversity and Community Relations at Janus Henderson Investors, has been appointed President of the Janus Henderson Foundation, Janus Henderson’s charitable giving arm.

The Janus Henderson Foundation has a long history of charitable giving that began in 1994. Its primary focus is on supporting education and financial literacy initiatives, but the Foundation also helps a variety of other charities in the many regions where the asset manager does business.

Since its inception, the Janus Henderson Foundation has issued more than US$47 million in grants to over 330 non-profit organizations and last year matched more than $350,000 in employee donations. Janus Henderson believes that by enhancing educational and financial literacy opportunities, it ultimately helps young people find fulfilling careers while developing talent who may someday contribute to its mission – assisting its over 60 million clients to invest in a brighter future.

Strategic partners include organizations like the Greenwood Project, Chapter One, and Junior Achievement USA.

The Greenwood Project exposes high-achieving Black and Latino students to career opportunities in financial services. The Foundation helps fund these programs, and many of the interns spend summers working at Janus Henderson Investors.

Chapter One provides one-to-one reading support for school children and offers access to a free online library. In this relationship, the Janus Henderson Foundation provides funding and promotes volunteerism among Janus Henderson Investors’ employees, which has included employees tutoring and authoring financial literacy books for the library.

The Foundation provides funding for Junior Achievement’s JA Titan program, a simulation-based program in which high school students compete as business CEOs in the phone industry, experiencing first-hand how executive leadership works.

The Foundation also channels the charitable nature of Janus Henderson Investors’ employees by matching employee donations and sponsoring the annual Charity Challenge, a competition where Janus Henderson employees pitch non-profit organizations to their colleagues and a panel of judges in pursuit of donation prizes.

Prior to this appointment, Demesha served as the Managing Director for the Janus Henderson Foundation since 2015.

Demesha Hill, President of the Janus Henderson Foundation, said: “I’m honored to be entrusted with leading the Janus Henderson Foundation and look forward to continue working with our incredible charity partners around the world. The Foundation’s mission is something I believe in deeply and I have seen the incredible impact we can have on peoples’ lives when we are generous with our time and resources.”

Michelle Dunstan, Chief Responsibility Officer at Janus Henderson Investors, said: “We’re so excited to see Demesha elevated to the role of President of the Janus Henderson Foundation. She has a track record of exceptional leadership, having served as the Foundation’s Managing Director, and we know she’ll enhance its legacy of investing in innovative educational programmes that make a meaningful impact in our communities. The Foundation expands our ability to be a responsible corporate entity and it could not have a better leader.”
