Plaintiff attorneys: result sends clear message that Bayer Monsanto cannot escape accountability

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Another jury has found Bayer Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller liable for causing non-Hodgkin lymphoma, prompting attorneys representing thousands of victims to demand that the company take responsibility for continuing to sell its poisonous product following documented cases of cancer tied to glyphosate exposure.

The $1.56 billion jury verdict in Missouri Friday marks the fourth consecutive trial result in favor of Roundup plaintiffs in recent months. Juries found in favor of the cancer victims based on evidence presented showing that Bayer failed to warn consumers of the potential dangers of using Roundup and the link to cancer.

In July 2022, an 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals opinion found the chemical giant subject to warning label laws, halting Monsanto’s attempt to secure dismissal of lawsuits and removal of the claims to federal court. That ruling provided clarity for other pending lawsuits against Bayer (OTCMKTS: BAYZF, BAYRY) and its Monsanto subsidiary. Earlier this month, Union Investment, one of Bayer's top shareholders, called on the company to resolve the cases with the cancer victims.
