Zayo Powers World’s Fastest Network, SCinet, at Supercomputing 2023

Zayo’s 100G IP backbone will help bring the most advanced temporary network on Earth to Denver

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zayo, a global communications infrastructure provider, today announced its leading IP network will help power SCinet, the world’s fastest and most advanced temporary network providing connectivity for Supercomputing 2023 (SC23) in Denver from November 12-17, 2023.

Each year, the Supercomputing conference drives more than 12,000 attendees from across the globe and generates over six terabits of data per second (enough to stream thousands of HD movies simultaneously) worldwide. As a 2023 Connectivity Contributor, Zayo’s network will provide the backbone for SCinet—a one-of-a-kind global collaboration from high-performance networking experts to create the most powerful temporary network on Earth to connect the SC community to the world each year.

As part of SCinet, Zayo’s network will not only provide connectivity to support this massive bandwidth capacity for SC23 conference attendees and its High-Performance Compute (HPC) user community but also support important discussions and research around the ever-evolving landscape of HPC and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

“Providing short-term, high-speed connectivity for highly attended events is always a challenge. We’re proud to partner with industry, academia, and government experts to design and build the cutting-edge SCinet infrastructure. Together, we are pushing the boundaries of networking technology and innovation,” said Anna Claiborne, SVP of network connectivity and product software engineering at Zayo.

“Networking is the lifeblood of the Internet, moving data that educates our children, connecting medical specialists in far-flung regions, training AI models, and ultimately empowering both individuals and businesses to make choices to improve the world. We’re happy to be a part of SCinet’s efforts to advance networking innovation to continue making these feats possible,” added Claiborne.

“We are pleased to work with Zayo as a connectivity contributor and internet provider for the SC23 SCinet network,” said Hans Addleman, SC23 SCinet chair. “SCinet is renowned for providing a high bandwidth and experimental network that facilitates the demonstration of groundbreaking research at SC. Zayo helps enable SCinet to deliver on this critical mission and highlight how networks can help reduce barriers that may impede scientific discovery.”
