AM Best to Participate in Series of Sessions at Casualty Actuarial Society’s Annual Meeting

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best will participate in a variety of sessions at the Casualty Actuarial Society’s (CAS) Annual Meeting, which will take place Nov. 5-8, 2023, in Los Angeles.

Presentations include:

  • Tom Mount, senior director, AM Best, will discuss the year-end 2022 reserve positions of the U.S. property/casualty segment. The session, titled, “U.S. Property/Casualty Industry Loss & LAE Reserves,” is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 6, at 1:15 p.m. (PST), and will also explore loss developments during and after COVID-19 versus expected developments. Mount is AM Best’s property/casualty actuary, as well as an Associate of the CAS, and will present AM Best’s views on potential impacts from favorable or unfavorable reserve developments on insurers’ credit ratings.
  • Sridhar Manyem, senior director, Industry Research and Public Relations, AM Best, will speak at two sessions. The first, titled, “Cyber Insurance: What Risk Managers Need to Know,” takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 9:45 a.m. (PST), and will focus on evolving cyber risks, as well as the supply and demand dynamics of cyber risk and insurance, the rise of adversarial AI techniques and ChatGPT and increasing ransomware threats. The second session, titled, “D&O Insurance-Navigating the Complexities,” will look at the state of the directors and officers insurance market, and will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 8:00 a.m. (PST).
  • Jieqiu Fan, associate director, AM Best, will speak on Wednesday, Nov. 8, on the subject, “ERM in an Unprecedented Market Environment,” and explore the extent to which risks have become increasingly intertwined and complex. Fan, an Associate of the CAS, will discuss AM Best's approach to enterprise risk management in its ratings process and its importance within the current market environment amid rising catastrophe events, cyber-attacks, economic downturns and supply chain disruptions. The session is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. (PST).

The CAS is a credentialing and professional education organization focused on property/casualty risks. The annual meeting gives property/casualty insurance actuaries and industry participants the opportunity to earn continuing education credits in a variety of sessions covering relevant and timely topics necessary for continued professional growth and maintaining actuarial credentials.
