Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 Uses Atmosic’s Ultra-low Power SoC to Extend Battery Life

CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2, recently announced at the Samsung Developer Conference, takes advantage of Atmosic's ultra-low power consumption ATM3325 SoC (Atmosic’s ATM33 family of solutions). The ATM3325 SoC provides a 43% reduction in power consumption compared to Samsung’s previous generation SmartTag+ SoCs. Samsung has provided further differentiation by incorporating a power save mode which can extend the battery life up to 700 days for the tag. The improvement in battery life allows consumers to track their valuables longer while reducing the time, money, and environmental impact associated with changing batteries.

“Atmosic’s SoC helps Samsung to offer an extended battery life in our latest SmartTag2,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics. “With Atmosic’s innovative technology, we are able to improve our environmental impact as well as our customer experience through extended battery life.”

Samsung’s SmartThings Find Service allows you to find your tag through your Galaxy smartphone and tablet. Now other devices designed by 3rd parties, leveraging the larger Samsung SmartThings ecosystem for location based services, will be able to develop low-power products based on Atmosic’s ATM33 SOC. “Samsung’s use of Atmosic’s technology in the Galaxy SmartTag2 and the inclusion into Samsung’s SmartThings Find Service is a great example of how sustainable innovations can be extended to the masses,” said David Su, CEO Atmosic Technologies.

Atmosic’s ATM33 family of hardware and software development kits are available in high volume production today. Atmosic continues to deliver the most eco-friendly BLE solutions in the fast growing IoT market. Together Samsung and Atmosic can offer the most sustainable tracking solutions in the world while leveraging the global Samsung SmartThings ecosystem.
