The Wilson Center to Partner with Battelle at Third Annual Climate Resilience Conference in Washington D.C.

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars will join Battelle as a policy partner for the third annual Innovations in Climate Resilience Conference (ICR24) in Washington D.C. at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, April 22-24, 2024.

"Adding the Wilson Center to ICR24 brings a critical new dimension for our conference,” said Battelle Technical Fellow and ICR24 Chairman Justin Sanchez. “Climate innovation is not just about technology, but also about necessary policy discussions. The addition of such a prestigious organization will elevate ICR24 and help make a bigger impact and affect positive change."

This is the third consecutive year Battelle will convene experts from government, private industry, and academia in-person to share technology breakthroughs and action plans to address the effects of climate change. The Innovations in Climate Resilience 2024 theme is Solutions for Scaling Change, which captures the urgency and growing need for effective innovations that can adequately address climate change.

The Wilson Center is a think tank chartered by Congress as the official memorial to President Woodrow Wilson. It aims to be the nation’s key nonpartisan policy forum for tackling global issues and does so through independent research and open dialogue to inform actionable ideas for the policy community.

“We are delighted at the opportunity to partner with Battelle on this year’s Innovations in Climate Resilience Conference. As headlines from around the world tell us every day, there is an urgent need for climate responses that utilize cutting-edge tech and innovative policy—this conference provides an opportunity to advance both,” said Lauren Risi, director of the Wilson Center’s Environmental Change & Security program.

The conference is organized and presented by Battelle in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy’s national lab technical program partners. The technical program includes an evening opening keynote and reception, a day and a half of technical presentations and panel discussions, an evening poster reception, and a closing reception. The technical program's themes are adaptation, mitigation, and sustainability. Focus areas include empowering action for rapid carbon neutrality, investing in climate resilient infrastructure, systems to fortify the future, advancing sustainability solutions for the next generation, and more.

The Wilson Center will participate on the ICR24 steering committee, serve as a conference policy partner, and assist Battelle in promoting ICR24.

The Call for Abstracts is now open with the submission deadline of December 11, 2023. Early bird registration closes February 16, 2024.

The conference website has information on the technical program, sponsorship opportunities, and on-demand assets from previous Innovations in Climate Resilience conferences.
