BOCA RATON, Fla.--()--Medical practice leader, ModMed®, announced today the addition of maternal fetal medicine (MFM) capabilities into its electronic health record (EHR) suite for OBGYNs. Developed in collaboration with MFM specialists, these functionalities improve ModMed’s comprehensive solution and are designed to enhance communication, streamline workflows, and help optimize patient care within the OBGYN field.

"ModMed's MFM incorporation into the OBGYN-EHR suite represents a significant advancement in providing comprehensive care and seamless communication between healthcare professionals," said Dr. Nigel Spier, Medical Director of OBGYN at ModMed. "By leveraging the expertise of MFMs, we have developed specialized solutions that facilitate communication between perinatologists and their referring OBGYNs, reducing historical challenges and ensuring all stakeholders, including referring physicians, MFMs, and patients, are on the same page."

A key feature of the MFM-integrated OBGYN-EHR suite includes the ability to build consult notes specifically for referring physicians. These notes can provide a detailed summary of the MFM evaluation, including identified problems, proposed actions, and next steps. By facilitating this transparent and efficient communication channel, ModMed allows referring OBGYNs, MFMs, and patients to remain fully informed and aligned in their treatment plans.

Heather Stanley-Christian, MD, at Unity Maternal Fetal Medicine commented, “I've been thoroughly impressed by ModMed's OBGYN Practice Management software. My previous billing system caused many lags and claim rejections, but with ModMed PM, I've had minimal issues with particular payers. I really appreciate ModMed!"

Other MFM functionalities embedded within the OBGYN-EHR suite are core functions such as procedures, counseling, and both basic and advanced antepartum testing, including fetal dopplers and echocardiography. This unified approach allows OBGYNs and MFMs to access and collaborate on the consulting plan, facilitating more synchronized clinical decision-making and continuity of care.

The MFM-OBGYN-EHR combination not only enhances efficiency within the practice but also allows for the sharing of OBGYN antepartum records and data among multiple practices. This helps improve communication and ensures comprehensive patient care.

In addition, the suite incorporates universal search tools from IMO (Intelligent Medical Objects) designed to facilitate the selection of diagnosis codes. These tools help streamline the billing and coding process for perinatologists by making it more efficient.
