Colossal Biosciences Named to TIME’s List of the TIME100 Most Influential Companies

TIME honors Colossal’s revolutionary approach to de-extinction and species restoration.

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Colossal Biosciences ("Colossal"), the world’s first de-extinction company, has been named to the third-annual TIME100 Most Influential Companies list, which recognizes 100 companies making an extraordinary impact around the world.

“Colossal is honored to be recognized as one of TIME100’s Most Influential Companies. It has been a little over two years since launch, and I couldn’t be more proud of the progress our incredible team has made to reverse biodiversity loss on a global scale while working to bring back iconic extinct species such as the woolly mammoth,” said Ben Lamm, CEO and co-founder of Colossal Biosciences. “We have unwavering confidence that Colossal’s disruptive conservation and genetic rescue techniques are the future of conservation and will improve our planet for generations to come. We’d like to thank TIME for recognizing our achievements thus far – our mission to rewild the planet continues on.”

This recognition comes on the heels of Colossal’s recent milestones and progress on its de-extinction journey. Since 2021, Colossal has raised $225M in total funding, with its most recent oversubscribed $150M Series B financing in 2023. Colossal has announced plans to bring back the Woolly Mammoth, Tasmanian Tiger and Dodo, and has made groundbreaking advancements on its de-extinction pursuits including launching its Avian Genomics Group, successfully sequencing the Asian and African elephants as part of its Elephant Genome Project and announcing efforts to eradicate EEHV in elephants.

To assemble the list, TIME solicited nominations from its global network of contributors and correspondents as well as from outside experts. TIME editors evaluated each on key factors, including impact, innovation, ambition, and success. The result is a diverse group of 100 businesses helping chart an essential path forward.
