Morris, Manning & Martin Launches Tax Controversy Practice with Hiring of Two Top Tax Controversy Attorneys

New tax controversy practice focusing on representing clients in complex tax disputes

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP announced today the launch of its new Tax Controversy practice with the arrival of two highly experienced tax controversy attorneys. Barclay Taylor and William Stone, who joined the firm’s Litigation practice in Atlanta as of counsel and associate, respectively, will launch the new practice.

The new team offers sophisticated defense of individuals, businesses, investment funds and other taxpayers in disputes involving both the IRS and state taxing authorities.

Taylor and Stone came from tax-focused law firm’s Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, William and Aughtry, P.C.’s Tax Controversy group. Their experience encompasses representing clients during all phases of federal income tax controversies including IRS audit, administrative appeals and court proceedings in the U.S. Tax Court.

Barclay also leverages his previous experience as an international tax associate KPMG, LLP, a global accounting firm. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from The University of Georgia and his law degree from Mercer University. He also holds an LL.M. in taxation from SMU Dedman School of Law.

Prior to working at Chamberlain, Stone served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Joseph W. Nega of the United States Tax Court. During law school, Stone worked in the largest low-income tax clinic in the country and looks forward to helping pro bono clients at Morris Manning. He received his undergraduate degrees in business administration from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Georgia State University. He also holds an LL.M. in taxation from The University of Florida.
