Sustainability, Middle Mile, Community Broadband, and Local Government Tackled During Fiber Connect 2023 Pre-Conference Workshops

Fiber Broadband Association designs workshops to explore emerging fiber broadband topics

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) today announced the Pre-Conference Workshops scheduled for Fiber Connect 2023, including the popular FBA Fiber Broadband Starter Toolkit. FBA’s Pre-Conference Workshops will explore the topics and trends associated with expanding fiber broadband universally, including new deployment best practices, sustainability, middle mile, strategies for municipalities and utilities, and local government partnerships and resources.

“The Pre-Conference Workshops at Fiber Connect 2023 have been curated so that attendees can quickly gain the tools they need to go back to their communities and connect them to new empowering opportunities that only fiber broadband can deliver,” said Gary Bolton, President and CEO of the Fiber Broadband Association. “Each workshop is a half-day learning session focused on important, timely topics and presented by fiber broadband industry experts. We have so many great themes and speakers this year, the biggest challenge for attendees will be deciding which one to attend.”

Fiber Connect 2023 will be held August 20-23, at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. The Pre-Conference Workshops will be held on Sunday, August 20, from 12:30 – 5:30pm, before the Fiber Connect Welcome Reception Sunday evening. This year’s workshops include:

The “Local Engagement Best Practices” workshop is co-presented by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and will feature local elected officials as they explore how to forge successful partnerships at the local level and how local government resources can be utilized to facilitate the deployment and adoption of high-speed internet in unconnected communities.

“Fiber Broadband Toolkit” is designed for those new to fiber broadband network deployments. The workshop provides the knowledge required to deploy connectivity to every community, including understanding legal and regulatory policies, funding options, and end-user installations.

The “Ecology of Fiber Broadband: Forging a Sustainable Future” is a workshop focused on sustainable options and approaches involved in fiber deployment and supply chain & manufacturing, and how fiber enables other industries to be greener.

The “Tower Talks: Middle Mile and Fiber – Now We’re Talking” workshop will provide in-depth information about the opportunities, needs, and challenges faced by tower operators as they look to advance broadband services more broadly.

“Community Broadband: The Municipal and Utility Broadband Market Facts and Fundamentals” is a workshop that will address the stakes for municipal and utility broadband operators as each look to address unmet needs in specific markets.

Registration for Pre-Conference Workshops is complimentary for FBA members, network operators, and public officials during the Early Bird Registration until June 25, 2023.
