Hagens Berman Consumer Investigation: Law Firm Investigating Unlawful Credit Card Fees

Consumer-rights attorneys urge cardholders to protect themselves from charges and fees

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Attorneys at consumer-protection law firm Hagens Berman are investigating reports that credit card issuers may be charging customers illegal fees on credit card balances.

If you carry a balance on a major credit card, you may have been wrongly charged excessive fees on your card balance. Find out your rights.

“The need for consumers to protect themselves financially is more important than ever,” said Steve Berman, managing partner at Hagens Berman, which is helping lead the investigation. “We are investigating reports that some credit card issuers aren’t playing by the rules.”

Which Cardholders are Affected?

According to the law firm, those who carried a balance at some point during the past few years on a credit card from a major issuer may have been charged excessive fees and can join the investigation and help hold the companies accountable.

Hagens Berman has extensive experience in litigation against banks, card issuers and other large financial institutions, and most recently recovered over $66 million in a settlement agreement with Visa, Mastercard and several major banks in 2021 regarding ATM fees.
