ERI Awarded Verizon’s Supplier Sustainability Award

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ERI, the nation’s largest fully integrated IT and electronics asset disposition (ITAD) provider and cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company, announced today that it has received the annual Supplier Sustainability Award from Verizon, one of the world's leading technology companies.

ERI was selected as the recipient of Verizon’s 2023 Supplier Sustainability Award in recognition of ERI’s support of Verizon’s sustainability efforts as they relate to the company’s innovative ‘direct to recycler’ PC Refresh Program, providing over 2,600 UPS labels which helped customers ship devices directly from their homes to ERI for responsible recycling. This effort led to ERI’s reselling over 215,000 pounds of electronics (computers, servers, and other devices) and the responsible recycling of over two million pounds of e-waste.

The award was presented as part of Verizon’s extended Earth Day activities, a two-month celebration of the hard work being completed in the area of sustainability.

"It is an absolute honor and privilege to be receiving this award from our friends and colleagues at Verizon,” said ERI’s Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO, John Shegerian. “Verizon’s game-changing PC Refresh sustainability initiative is a perfect example of a responsible recycler collaborating with a circular economy minded company. Sustainability is a core value ERI and Verizon share, so we have been excited by the opportunity to help drive conservation at the scale that such an industry-leading technology company can provide.”

"Verizon and ERI have a long collaboration in helping us to meet our sustainability goals through e-waste recycling excellence," said James Gowen, senior vice president of global supply chain and sourcing, and chief sustainability officer at Verizon. "Verizon is focused on taking bold steps toward reducing our environmental footprint, and we are pleased to present ERI with this recognition."

ERI is the largest fully integrated IT and electronics asset disposition provider and cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company in the United States. ERI is certified at the highest level by all leading environmental and data security oversight organizations to de-manufacture, recycle, and refurbish every type of electronic device in an environmentally responsible manner. It is the first and only company in its industry to achieve carbon neutrality at all its facilities nationwide, and the first to achieve SOC 2 certification for security and data protection.
