NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tassat® Group Inc., the leading provider of private blockchain-based business-to-business (B2B) real-time payments and financial services solutions to banks, today announced its partnership with Technology for {You}th, a non-profit organization and enrichment program that empowers underrepresented communities to enter the STEM field.
Through its Tassat x Technology for {You}th initiative, Tassat has pledged $10,000 to fund an annual scholarship for Grade 9-12 program participants. Officially kicking off April 25, 2023, this partnership includes networking sessions held on-site at Tassat’s Manhattan headquarters, with after-school dinners, workshops, and fireside chats with industry leaders. Students will also have the opportunity to network and learn about a variety of careers in the technology industry, including product, sales, marketing, and software engineering, to demonstrate the variety of career opportunities in this space.
“At Technology for {You}th, we are proud to meet the needs and challenges of America’s STEM student body head-on,” said Omari Edwards, Founder of Technology for {You}th. “With Tassat’s continued support, we look forward to bringing these events to life. Several Technology for {You}th alumni are now full-time employees at Tassat, and we look forward to continuing to expose these talented, bright young students to all of the exciting opportunities in the tech industry. We have a shared mission to drive positive changes in STEM education and increase diversity and inclusion through technology.”
Founded in 2017 by Omari Edwards, Technology for {You}th aims to bridge the gap for underrepresented communities in STEM fields. The program provides primary and secondary school students a unique opportunity to network with and learn from some of the nation’s leading professionals in the tech industry. Today, only 31% of American students in primary and secondary schools were found to be performing above average in STEM programs, according to assessments of U.S. public education at the K-12 level. Combatting this literacy gap during students’ primary education is pivotal and lays the groundwork for increasing the unmet demand for technical talent in America.
“Education is the key to increasing diversity of thought, skill sets, and backgrounds in the technology industry,” said Kevin R. Greene, Tassat’s CEO and Chairman. “Tassat is thrilled to support Technology for {You}th and Omari Edwards’ mission to empower the nation’s next generation of innovators. We are thrilled to formally announce this partnership and to create opportunities for students passionate about technology and how it will shape our future.”
