Moneyball’s Paul DePodesta, NFL's Cleveland Browns Chief Strategy Officer, to Deliver Marketing Analytics Keynote

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading up to the NFL Draft, Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology presents Paul DePodesta, Cleveland Browns Chief Strategy Officer, Entrepreneur and subject of Moneyball, as the 2023 J. Warren McClure Lecture Series keynote speaker.

Taking place virtually on April 20 at 12:30 p.m., Paul’s keynote speech, "Using Data to Deal with Uncertainty," draws connections between sports, business and performance. Those that register at rit.edu/moneyball can submit a question to Paul and may get selected for the virtual VIP meet & greet following the event.

Paul DePodesta has made a career of evaluating, measuring, and assigning value to talent, as documented in Michael Lewis’s book, Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. The Moneyball methodology has become a mainstay strategy for business leaders looking for new approaches for overhauling stagnant systems. It has revolutionized every industry—from Wall Street and Fortune 500 companies to government and healthcare. Paul explains how your organization can drill down “big data” output to create an applicable analytics strategy and sharpen your company's competitive edge.

After graduating cum laude from Harvard College, DePodesta has built an extensive resume in major league sports, including the Canadian Football and American Hockey Leagues. His career includes many major league team accomplishments in senior positions for the Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians), Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and now the Cleveland Browns.

The event will be emceed by Rochester Business Journal’s sports columnist Scott Pitoniak. Scott is a nationally honored journalist and best-selleing author. He is a recipient of more than 100 national and regional journalism awards and is a member of six halls of fame. The Associated Press Sports Editors, Professional Football Writers of America and Gannett have recognized him as one of the nation's top columnists several times.

The McClure Professorship in Marketing presents the McClure Lecture Series. Supporting Saunders’ B.S. in marketing, the series invites the top experts in marketing to speak on campus or virtually at Saunders College of Business.
