Room to Read Appoints Sonny Kalsi to Global Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Room to Read, a leading global education organization focused on children’s literacy and girls’ education, today announced the appointment of Sonny Kalsi to its global board of directors.

“Sonny has been an integral part of Room to Read for many years, supporting our mission with thoughtful leadership and expertise,” said Dr. Geetha Murali, Room to Read CEO. “As Room to Read looks to scale solutions to the worldwide education crisis and continue its commitment to operational excellence, I am grateful and honored to have Sonny as part of our global board.”

Kalsi is the Co-Chief Executive Officer of BentallGreenOak, a leading global real estate investment management advisor and a globally recognized provider of real estate services. Kalsi was also co-founder of GreenOak Real Estate and previously served as the Global Co-Head of Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Investing business and President of the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds. Kalsi is a graduate of Georgetown University and continues to be very involved with the school in advancing academic initiatives.

“Education is critical – an inherent right that lays the foundation for lifelong success,” said Kalsi. “It has been my great honor to be part of an organization that supports global solutions to ensure all children have access to the literacy and life skills they need to make strong decisions for their futures. I am grateful to join Room to Read’s global board of directors and look forward to contributing to the next phase of Room to Read’s growth and impact.”

Kalsi has been a member of Room to Read’s North America regional board of directors since 2018, most recently serving as chair. During his tenure with Room to Read, Kalsi led the restructuring of Room to Read’s New York regional board and Bay Area regional board into a singular North America regional board of directors, supporting significant shifts in strategy that allowed Room to Read to capitalize on new opportunities and support expanding project work in the United States.
