NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Guaranteed, a company providing modern, end-of-life care designed with the patient and caregiver in mind, is pleased to announce it has closed a $6.5M seed round led by BrandProject, with participation from Precursor Ventures, Springbank Ventures, Lakehouse Ventures, and Cake Ventures. Notably, 50% of the capital came from a woman- and/or person of color-led general partner investment firm or angel investor. Additionally, 27% came specifically from Black investment dollars. Guaranteed will use the funding to scale its platform with a focus on building out its patient experience—and hiring hospice and clinical care professionals, as well as engineering and marketing talent as it expands into new markets.
“Despite being a $29B market that is set to double in six years, our culture is far from having a constructive relationship with death,” said Jessica McGlory, founder and CEO at Guaranteed. “Since everyone dies, we are committed to making the end-of-life experience more personalized because we believe everyone should have access to the care they need in order to have a good death.”
McGlory, 31, is a Detroit native and DePaul University graduate who previously held roles across growth, paid social, and programmatic for startups in NYC.
Andrew Black, Founder and Managing Partner at New York City and Toronto-based venture studio and VC firm BrandProject, which focuses on seed stage and follow-on investments in disruptive early-stage consumer businesses, added: “Guaranteed’s take on end-of-life is inclusive of the dying, the grieving, their loved ones—and all races, ethnicities, abilities, genders, sexualities, and religions. We are delighted to back Jessica and the team at Guaranteed as they work to give everyone a new understanding of death and access to safer, more supportive, and more personal end-of-life care.”
