DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas Shows Zero Findings From an Independent Audit Report for the Eighth Consecutive Year

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas (DHA) received its 2021 single audit report from leading advisory, assurance and tax firm, CohnReznick LLP. The audit report contains zero findings. This marks the agency’s eighth consecutive year with zero audit findings, which is a significant accomplishment given the size and complexity of DHA’s operations.

The single audit protocol evaluates not only DHA’s financial statements, but also regulatory compliance, program reporting, cost allocations, internal controls for financial and program documentation and processes and cash management.

DHA is the tenth largest public housing authority (PHA) and the eighth largest Housing Choice Voucher program in the nation. The agency provides affordable housing opportunities for over 55,700 people through DHA-owned public housing developments and the Housing Choice Voucher program. DHA manages 3,604 public housing units and assists 16,000 households through the Housing Choice Voucher program representing 40,000 people. DHA has an annual operating budget in excess of $270M and assets valued at more than $350M.

A majority of PHAs operate their Housing Choice Voucher program with one jurisdiction-wide fair market rent schedule. DHA uniquely adheres to a more complex HUD Small Area Fair Market Rent schedule, which encompasses 612 payment standards across 389 zip codes, making the clean audit report a notable accomplishment.

“Access to affordable housing continues to be an important issue across our nation and our team at DHA is committed to our mission to provide quality affordable housing and access to supportive resources across North Texas. We appreciate the dedication and attention to detail our team exemplifies as we continue to practice good stewardship of the resources we are responsible for managing year after year. This independent audit report represents our dedication to serving our community with care and integrity,” says DHA President and CEO Troy Broussard.
