Publix recognized on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Retail list

Ranked No. 5 of 20 large companies

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Publix has been named on the 2022 Best Workplaces in Retail list by Fortune, ranking No. 5 of the 20 best large retail workplaces. Publix associates say the company’s dedication to service, welcoming culture, desire to give back and support for associates to take time off when they need it are some of the reasons they enjoy working for the company, which has more than 1,300 stores across seven states.

“We’ve made an effort to stay true to the philosophies Publix was founded on 92 years ago,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous. “It’s gratifying to be recognized on this list because the results are directly from the feedback and experiences of our associates.”

Care for Publix associates

As the largest employee-owned company in the country, Publix offers its associates the opportunity to become company owners through its employee stock ownership and employee stock purchase plans. The company also offers paid parental leave for eligible full- and part-time associates to take time off with pay within the first year after the birth or adoption of a child. Additionally, Publix supports its associates in furthering their education with tuition reimbursement benefits and offers a variety of career paths and opportunities for advancement.

Care for Publix communities and the environment

In addition to being passionately devoted to its associates and customers, Publix is committed to alleviating hunger and helping the environment in the communities it serves. The company partners with its customers and associates to give nourishing fresh produce and nonperishable food to local food banks and monetary support to nonprofits. Publix also encourages its associates to serve their local communities during its two annual Publix Serves Weeks, when associates volunteer together across the company’s entire footprint.

Additionally, Publix believes in making responsible choices that positively affect the environment. Sustainability is ingrained in the company’s culture and guides its decisions in supporting initiatives like donating to protect, restore and conserve areas of the Florida Everglades.
