Second Opinion®, the only patient-facing, FDA-cleared AI radiologic aid for detecting numerous dental diseases, has been selected as one of the top innovations in dentistry

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pearl, the leader in dental AI solutions, announced today that Second Opinion®, its chairside artificial intelligence (AI) software to help dentists detect numerous conditions in x-rays of dental patients, has been selected as a 2022 Best of Class Technology Award recipient by Cellerant Consulting Group. Technology and innovations that are recognized must have “revolutionized, simplified, or advanced their category in a distinctive way,” according to Cellerant Consulting. A panel of industry leaders including Paul Feuerstein, DMD, John Flucke, DDS, Marty Jablow, DMD, Pam Maragliano-Muniz, DMD, Chris Salierno, DDS, and Lou Shuman, DMD deliberate and choose the recipients of the awards.

Pearl has established itself at the forefront of the dental AI revolution with a suite of computer vision solutions aimed at elevating the standard of dental care by improving precision and consistency. Second Opinion® applies computer vision AI technology to identify key pathologic and nonpathologic conditions in dental radiographs, including dental caries (cavities), bone loss, periapical radiolucencies (root abscesses), calculus (tartar), and faulty restorations. It is the only dental AI software cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to detect multiple forms of disease, as well as the only such software cleared for radiologic evaluation of adolescent and teenage patients.

“At Pearl, our goal is to bring dentistry’s most advanced clinical artificial intelligence systems to practices around the world and fundamentally advance dental diagnosis, treatment, clinical performance and practice management,” said Ophir Tanz, founder and CEO of Pearl. “AI-informed decision-making will elevate the standard of care and help to ensure optimal patient health outcomes.
