Matter Health Raises $35 Million in Series A to Solve Health Crisis at Home for Older Adults

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Matter Health today announced a $35 million Series A financing led by the Jordan Park Group, helping further a remarkable new model of primary care focused on solving the health crisis at home for older adults.

Matter Health’s unique model brings a total healthcare solution directly to patients through partnerships with affordable housing developments where Matter operates primary care clinics embedded within the community. Clinics offer holistic, preventative primary care to older adults who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid.

“The barriers to holistic healthcare are plentiful for older adults in affordable communities. Our mission with Matter Health is to solve this problem,” said Mason Mercy, Co-Founder and CEO of Matter Health. “A lack of education and easy, immediate access to care creates poor outcomes and a high-cost strain on the system. We exist to serve these individuals most in need of quality healthcare through a convenient, location-based system. This series A investment round will enable us to rapidly increase healthcare access to more people who need it.”

Founded in 2021 by Scott Sohr, Mason Mercy, Harrison Steen and Austin Sohr, Matter currently operates four primary care centers in Tennessee today and is experiencing rapid growth. Matter plans to open 30 centers and expand to Georgia and Michigan by 2023. The Series A funds will be used for expansion efforts as well as further investment in Matter’s core capabilities in their Clinic Support Center, located in Nashville.

“There are strong early indicators that bringing convenient, holistic care to the home drives both better outcomes and a better experience for those we serve,” said President and Co-Founder Austin Sohr. “We have already seen a measurable decline in ER utilization and preventable hospitalizations while maintaining a high patient satisfaction with a Net Promoter Score of 94.”
