Best Buy Launches Home Pick-Up Recycling Service

Best Buy is the first national retailer to come to customers' homes to pick up old tech to be recycled – including everything from laptops to washing machines

Best Buy Totaltech™ members save 20% on new Haul-Away and recycling service

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Starting this month, Best Buy, the nation’s largest retail collector of e-waste, is making it easier than ever to get rid of old tech while protecting the environment – by picking it up directly from customers' homes. Once picked up, all products are then responsibly and safely recycled.

Just a click away, anyone in the U.S. can now request pickup and recycling for old electronics, keeping tech, including appliances, out of landfills and giving it a second life. The Best Buy Standalone Haul-Away service will remove and recycle up to two large products (including TVs, major appliances, all-in-one computers and monitors), along with select smaller products, like laptops, cameras, cords, gaming consoles and more.

The new Standalone Haul-Away service is available for $199.99. Best Buy Totaltech™ members save 20% on the Standalone Haul-Away service.

“We feel we have an important role to play in helping our planet, including being there for the entire lifecycle of a product – from the time a customer starts shopping until that product is responsibly recycled,” said Tim Dunn, Best Buy’s head of environmental sustainability. “This new service will make this important work even more convenient for customers.”

As part of our continued commitment to protect the environment, we have helped our customers recycle more than 2 billion pounds of electronics and appliances since 2009. Our recycling program accepts a variety of used electronics, regardless of where they were purchased, how old they are or who made them. Customers can schedule an appointment on BestBuy.com for all Haul-Away services.

This new service is in addition to the Haul-Away service Best Buy currently offers to customers when they purchase a new TV, major appliance or select fitness equipment, and want to recycle the product they’re replacing. Customer can also drop off up to three electronics per household, per day at Best Buy stores through our everyday recycling program, or take advantage of our trade-in program, which provides gift cards for items that still have value. More information on what items are accepted at your local store and what fees might be associated, can be found here.
