Encore Container Announces the Manufacturing of New 77-gallon Drums

GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Encore Container, a leader in the plastic drum and IBC tote industry, recently announced the company is diversifying its product portfolio to serve new customers in new markets—starting with the production of 77-gallon plastic drums in January and continuing with additional expansions later this year.

Odom explained that most plastic drum manufacturers serve the chemical industry, so they shy away from producing drums that are too large for packing chemicals. He estimates a market demand of about 1 million 77-gallon drums per year, primarily for people seeking affordable options for shipping goods to family members.

“We’ve had years of success in manufacturing plastics, so we have the right people and the right processes for this expansion,” said Odom. By running shifts around the clock during this growth phase, he anticipates producing 600 drums per day, with the option of 100 percent recycled resin or 100 percent virgin resin.

On the heels of this investment, Encore Container will continue its diversification and expansion throughout 2022. Odom plans to install two new high-speed automated blow mold lines for tote bottles and drums, and he hopes to open a new U.S.-based plant for manufacturing and recycling somewhere else in the US.
