Tim Wise to be Opening Keynote Speaker for University of Phoenix Inclusive Leadership Summit and Career Fair

Leading anti-racist writer and educator will open the virtual event focused on developing leadership skills in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--University of Phoenix is pleased to announce Tim Wise as opening keynote speaker of the University’s first annual Inclusive Leadership Summit and Career Fair, April 12-15, 2022. The free, virtual event is open to the public and focused on helping participants develop diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) skills as inclusive leaders and will provide opportunities for networking connection and employment.

Wise opening speech is titled, “Getting to Equity in a Time of Backlash,” and will explore the current backlash against diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts as well as the larger anti-racism movement, within a historical perspective.

Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and educators in the U.S. He has spent 30 years speaking to audiences in all 50 states, on over 1500 college and high school campuses, at hundreds of professional and academic conferences, and to community groups across the country. Wise has also trained corporate, government, entertainment, media, law enforcement, military, and medical professionals on methods for dismantling racial inequity in their institutions and has provided anti-racism training to educators and administrators nationwide and internationally, in Canada and Bermuda.

Wise is the author of nine books, including his latest essay collection, Dispatches from the Race War, and his highly acclaimed memoir, White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son. He appears regularly on CNN and MSNBC to discuss race issues and has been featured on Nightline, CBS Sunday Morning, 20/20 and 48 Hours, among other national news programs. He graduated from Tulane University in 1990 and received antiracism training from the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, in New Orleans.

Titled “Creating the intentional leader of today, tomorrow and beyond,” the University of Phoenix Inclusive Leadership Summit and Career Fair offers attendees access to a Career Fair as well as in-depth workshops, research presentations and choose industry-focused tracks: Leadership & Management, Healthcare and Education.

The Inclusive Leadership Summit integrates research findings from University of Phoenix Career Institute™ and Research Centers to influence topics addressed while highlighting academic fields of study offered at the University.
