AM Best to Participate in International Insurance Society’s Upcoming Webinar on Delegated Underwriting Authority Enterprises

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best analysts will participate in a webinar hosted by the International Insurance Society (IIS) on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, featuring a panel discussion on the growing role of Delegated Underwriting Authority Enterprises (DUAE) in the insurance industry.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Andrea Keenan, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, AM Best, and include Greg Williams, senior director, AM Best; and David Blades, associate director, AM Best. Also joining the panel is Aon Senior Managing Director Cory Schilling, who heads up his company’s U.S. Managing General Agent (MGA) and Program Specialty team. Discussion topics will include Schilling’s take on the recent growth in the DUAE segment and AM Best’s views, including the launch of its new methodology, “Best’s Performance Assessment for Delegated Underwriting Authority Enterprises.”

In this methodology, AM Best introduced the Best’s Performance Assessment (Best’s PA), which provides a framework for differentiating among DUAEs. AM Best defines DUAEs as a blanket term to capture MGAs, managing general underwriters, coverholders, program administrators, program underwriters, underwriting agencies, direct authorizations and appointed representatives.

This webinar, titled, “AM Best Briefing – The Expanding Role of MGAs in Insurance,” is being held at 10 a.m. and being done in conjunction with the IIS. Additional topics of discussion will include key factors such as talent, relationships and technology, each of which may impact the success of MGAs.
