Secretary of Energy Recognizes Maximus Federal Support of The National Energy Technology Laboratory

NETL’s Energy Data eXchange (EDX) Development and Operations Team Receives Prestigious Achievement Award

RESTON, Va.--()--Maximus (NYSE: MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, announced today the National Energy Technology Laboratory’s (NETL) Energy Data eXchange (EDX®) Development and Operations Team, supported by the company, has received the Secretary of Energy’s Achievement Award.

Maximus’ strength in supporting critical government program teams and agency missions combines an understanding of the government processes and people, while applying technology modernization that enables enhanced support for agencies such as NETL implementing the EDX program. EDX is an online data laboratory built to streamline Department of Energy (DOE) and Fossil Energy Carbon Management (FECM) research.

The Secretary’s Honor Awards, presented by Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, recognize individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond to fulfill the DOE’s mission to address energy, environmental, and nuclear challenges. The Achievement Award is presented to teams of DOE federal employees and contractors who have accomplished significant achievements over the previous year. The EDX achievement award is one of only two team awards that were awarded to NETL this past year.

“We are proud and honored to be recognized by Secretary Granholm for the hard work of our team at NETL,” said Teresa Weipert, General Manager of Maximus Federal. “Our work at NETL is a prime example of our commitment to deliver unmatched technology support for federal agencies with the necessary experience to transform how agencies reach their mission goals.”

EDX is the DOE’s FECM virtual data library and laboratory built to find, connect, curate, and use data to advance fossil energy and environmental research and development. EDX supports the entire data life cycle by offering secure, private collaborative workspaces for ongoing research projects until they mature and become catalogued, curated, and published.

In March 2021, Maximus acquired Attain Federal which works with NETL as the prime contractor of the Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) contract. The team also supports the NETL team with project and operations management and Geographical Information System (GIS) expertise.
