Corvias Nears Completion of 400 Newly Constructed Homes at Hurlburt Field

Project’s final demolition makes way for more development

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Corvias, a long-term solutions and management partner to the U.S. military, reached a milestone in its initial development scope to build 400 new homes on Hurlburt Field.

The development and construction work are part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) that was enacted as a critical component of the Department of Defense’s effort to eliminate inadequate housing through public-private partnerships. Corvias, through an affiliate, Corvias Air Force Living, assumed responsibility for 380 homes at Hurlburt Field in 2013 as part of the Continental Group that includes Eglin Air Force Base, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, McConnell Air Force Base, Edwards Air Force Base, and Eielson Air Force Base.

After successfully delivering 350 new homes to military families over the last six years, Corvias recently demolished the final outdated home on Hurlburt Field and is building an additional 50 homes, which will house field grade, senior grade, and general officers.

Corvias is scheduled to deliver the remaining homes, plus a 10,000 square-foot community center featuring a resort-style swimming pool, and other family-friendly amenities by the summer of 2022. The 400 new homes account for 80 percent of Hurlburt Field’s family housing.

Sustainability is a key component of the new homes, which feature LED lighting, low flow water fixtures, energy-efficient appliances, and exterior lights designed to be friendly to the area’s sea turtle population and other native beach-dwelling animals.

The 350 new homes delivered to date are occupied by junior and senior non-commissioned officers, as well as company grade and senior grade officers, and their families. They feature modernized interiors with exteriors matching the coastal theme of Florida.

In preparation for the new construction, a total of approximately 270 outdated homes on the installation were demolished. “The milestone of demolishing the last home at Hurlburt Field marks the final step to the housing transformation that will be realized as part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative,” said Pete Sims, a Managing Director for Corvias.
