Minnesota Department of Human Services Chooses UnitedHealthcare to Serve Individuals Covered by Medicaid

Minnesotans covered by the Families and Children Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare Medicaid Programs will have access to UnitedHealthcare comprehensive care and preventive health and wellness programs

MINNETONKA, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Minnesota Department of Human Services, which is partnering with managed care health plans to improve the health and wellness of individuals, selected UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Minnesota to administer its Medicaid program, effective January 1, 2022.

UnitedHealthcare will work closely with the state, providers and community-based organizations to deliver care solutions to improve the overall health and wellness of Minnesotans in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties through whole-person, coordinated care. The company will offer health benefit plans for a portion of approximately 600,000 eligible adults and children who meet qualifications for the state’s Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare programs. Membership will include access to UnitedHealthcare Community Plan’s care provider network, wellness programs and comprehensive health coverage. This includes preventive care, primary care, hospitalization, prescriptions and other health and wellness services, often at low or no cost.

UnitedHealthcare currently employs nearly 18,000 people in Minnesota. It provides employer-sponsored and Medicare plans to nearly 470,000 people and has more than 36,000 providers and hospitals under contract in the state. For more information, visit www.uhccommunityplan.com.
