Chesnee Communications Becomes Part of the Comporium Family

Comporium and Skyline Finalize Sale

ROCK HILL, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The 3,000+ customers served by Chesnee Communications are becoming members of the Comporium family. Comporium, a Rock Hill-based communications company, began working with Skyline Telephone Membership Corporation to purchase Chesnee Communications earlier this year. After passing the necessary regulatory requirements, the purchase of the company has been successfully completed.

Chesnee serves over 3,400 customers in northeastern Spartanburg and northwestern Cherokee Counties. The company offers broadband, voice/wireline and video services to its customers. For the last four years Chesnee has been owned by Skyline Telephone Membership Corporation of West Jefferson, NC. Prior to that Chesnee was owned and operated by Curt and Hannah Lancaster and the Lancaster family.

“We are pleased to be able to add Chesnee and its customers to the Comporium family of companies,” stated Comporium’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Bryant Barnes. “Comporium has worked closely with Chesnee and its owners for decades on business ventures, state legislative issues, and regulatory matters. We look forward to continuing their rich tradition of providing quality services to the greater Chesnee community.”

Comporium plans to retain all current Chesnee employees. The company will continue to operate under its current brand and offer its current products for the immediate future. Comporium has begun making plans to upgrade the network and the services in the Chesnee area. Those improvements will start to be available as soon as next year.
