COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Doses Available at Publix Pharmacy

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In accordance with recent CDC approval, Publix Pharmacy will administer booster doses of the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to eligible individuals. Booster doses are available starting today. Appointments can be made through the company's online reservation system for times starting Saturday, Oct. 23.

Eligibility

Immunized individuals may choose among Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson for their booster, regardless of the vaccine brand received initially.

The following individuals who received a Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine are eligible for a booster dose no sooner than six months after completing their initial series:

  • 65 years and older
  • ages 18 and older who live in long-term care settings
  • ages 18 and older who have underlying medical conditions or
  • ages 18 and older who work or live in high-risk settings.

Immunocompromised individuals who previously received the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine may receive a third dose of that same vaccine no sooner than 28 days after their second dose.

Individuals ages 18 and older who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine should receive a booster dose no sooner than two months after initial vaccination.

Availability

COVID-19 vaccinations are provided at in-store Publix Pharmacy locations.

  • Moderna: all locations.
  • Pfizer: All Florida locations and select locations outside Florida.
  • Johnson & Johnson: limited supply at some locations. If a customer’s preferred Publix Pharmacy does not have doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, they can visit vaccines.gov to find locations with a supply.

Parental consent

For the Pfizer vaccine, in-person parental or legal guardian consent is required at the time of vaccination for individuals ages 12 – 17.

Online appointments

Appointments are encouraged for the most efficient vaccination experience and to ensure the preferred vaccine is available. Appointments cannot be made by calling Publix or the Publix Pharmacy.

Costs and insurance

COVID-19 vaccinations are provided to eligible individuals, while supplies last, and at no cost to the individual. Customers with health insurance will need to bring their insurance card. Medicare members should bring their red, white and blue Medicare Part B card. Customers without health insurance will need to provide their driver’s license or Social Security number.
